Despite the spots, its absolutely stunning. Great work and great growing! That plant looks VERY happy.

Awesome Blooms! Still waiting for my Catasetum to spike. The bulbs are so fat that they look like they're ready to pop. My plant is a late bloomer/slow spiker and over the years I've learned that I must be patient.

Thank you, Steve and Junebug.

Steve, I moved the plant inside right after the photos were taken, and it's in my sunroom now, directly under the ceiling fan. The three newest flowers that have been expanding over the last couple of days do not--so far--have any spots on them or any discoloration. So perhaps the combination of high heat, high humidity, and relatively high light levels it was exposed to outside was the cause. Hopefully the flowers will stay nice and clean so that I can at least take a decent picture or two without giving the impression that the poor plant was kicked here all the way from Panama like a soccer ball. :-)

Beautiful blooms. They make worth the waiting. I had never seen one of these before. But then again there are so many species that there must be hundreds of them I've never seen before.

Default better pictures!

Apparently the trick to helping the flowers remain white and spotless is to keep them out of high humidity and sunlight. Blooms are opening more slowly now that the plant's been indoors for the last week. But the flowers are at least staying in good condition. The tallest spike is just over five feet high now, and will probably continue to elongate, as there are at least ten to fifteen buds in various stages of development. The scent is quite intoxicating.
