Default Catasetum redland blackcherry (ctsm jumbo pearl 'serdang oo oo' x ctsm penang)

second spike, the first one is 2 months plus ago. just to share the appearance of this spike. the base of the spike had a modified pseudobulb stucture (last pic), with roots of its own and later may give out new growth. it is does this time, it would be the second time for this hybrid.
my other catasetums had this occasionally but never one with a modified pseudobulb developed enough to give rise to a new growth. most of them withers with the spike.

The shape on this one is really defined. I like it a lot!

Very impressive. I love the colors and form of this flower.
I also had an experience of having a root come out of the spike as I have posted before...I was told that it will wither with the flowers and spike. I was hoping that it would turn into a new plant but it did not.

I love the colors and shape of the flowers. I had 4 catasetum's and killed everyone of them. I am thinking about ordering another.

well, do not over water them. most of them are killed by over watering rather than under watering. and also try other medium, for starters, sometimes is harder to cultivate one in moss, that is my 2cents.
IMHO, try LECA or charcoal if low humidity is not an issue. i think it is easier to cultivate catasetum with those. however different individuals may prefer different cultivation methods.
