Default Catasetum pileatum

This one felt like it was in bud f-o-r-e-v-e-r!
They finally started opening yesterday and this is what they look like this morning

I'm especially happy with this one...it's the first Catasetum I've had success with..so far

I see that you grow it in S/H and it is doing very well! I count at least seven flowers! Congrats Susanne!
I tried several catasetuns in S/H with more failures than successes, so I abandoned this method for this genus, but some friends are growing them very well that way.

Mauro, I grow just about all my 'chids in just aliflor, but I wouldn't consider what I do the S/H method. The only time they sit in water is when I'm too lazy to get some rocks or gravel in the trays

I'm going to have to go count the blooms now!

Susanne,

Congratulations. That's great growing! I love catasetums but have had some difficulty with them so really appreciate your results.

It gets prettier by the day!
There are 8 blooms open now!!!

I'm wondering how long the blooms usually last on this one...does anybody know?
