Stan. Lydia Bush (Stan. nigroviolacea X Stan. grandiflora)
It may only be the first week in April but here in Florida, Summer is already here. The Sanhopeas are starting to bloom. Stan. Lydia Bush (Stan. nigroviolacea X Stan. grandiflora) has got to be one of my favorite hybrids. The flowers are about 8' across and smell sort of like hyacinths.

Just to set the record straight the flower is not 8 feet across it is 8 inches. Doesn't make me like it any less.

Those are beautiful, Glen. And with those two parents, it should be fairly temperature tolerant (although maybe that's not such a great concern for you based on your location). Stanhopea hybrids aren't all that easy to come by. Mind divulging your source?
