Thanks for all the info Ramon!
It's not so much that I don't like pileatum, but I'm not a huge fan of green blooms, on any orchid. But maybe like you say, I will fall in love with it once I see it! I should have gotten that Oro Verde from Schwerter back when I mentioned it to you well over a year ago, but I freaked out at the last minute when ordering because back then I had zero confidence in my ability to grow one.

OK, I have officially taken the catasetinae plunge! Wish me luck!

I was planning an order at a good german vendor when I discovered today that they had established NBS Cycnodes Wine Delight for half the price of the ebay vendor, so as soon as the grower starts shipping again (he stopped until the cold snap is over in Europe) I'll order!!

I missed the end of the listing period on ebay for the Clowesia, but emailed the vendor to see if the remaining plants would be relisted soon. If they are, I'll also get the Clowesia

I'll probably need to pick your (and the other catasetinae people) brains during this first growing season!

Camille - don't over think it. They are probably one of the easiest genus to grow, once you learn their care going into and coming out of dormancy.

I saw that plant in bloom once in Hoosier Orchids greenhouse before they went out of business, absolutely amazing.

Welcome to the plunge, camille. I remember well the vendorīs incredulous face 30 years ago when I bought my first catasetum, an dark flowered integerrimum, and left all the beautiful cattleya hybrids, mostly by Vacherot, on the bench.
Its even more fascinating when you see the sexual dimorphism and the tricks they do to the bees.
Clowesia rosea and its hybrids are a good choice for beginners and not too sensitive to low temperatures in winter.

Camille - any updates ?
I split my catasetum today into 3 - with 2 backbulbs. It seems that if these do grow I will only see action after a month ?
