Default Galeandra stangeana

Two young plants of Galeandra are flowering right now. I think it is Galeandra stangeana. I grow them warm to hot in a mix of 60 volume percent sawdust of pinewood and 40 volume percent of little clay pellets.

Wow, very cool! Thanks for the information on growing medium, too. Do you use pine sawdust for many of your plants or is it peculiar to this one?

Thanks for the compliments. Pine sawdust with clay pellets is standard mix now for my Catasetums, Clowesias and Galeandras. I have repotted all my plants one year ago from bark mix and I am amazed about the dramatic increase. 3 Mormodes and one Calanthe are also doing very well in this mix. In the future I will add a little dolomit stone powder, which contains magnesium.

Those colors are outstanding! We really need to see more Galeandras in our collections!
