Acineta hennisiana getting ready to bloom
I know, buds are boring. But I'm pretty excited about this one since it's the first time the plant's gotten large enough to bloom. Two spikes so far, but one is still only about ten centimeters long. The larger spike has eight large buds, and I'm hoping they open within the next week (of course, I've been having the same hope for the last month, but the plant is intent on torturing me by heightening my anticipation).

I don't think buds are boring - quite the contrary. They're new blooms just waiting to open up and show everyone how beautiful they are. Moreover, it's always fun to watch buds develop from little nubs to small rounded things to a full-on flower.
I'm unfamiliar with this species, so I can't wait to see what your plant's flowers look like.

Thank you, everyone, for your comments. I'm still waiting for the buds to open. They get larger with each passing day, but perhaps its in the nature of species from this genus to take quite a lot longer than their stanhopea cousins for their flowers to open. I'll certainly post photographs of the blooms when they make their appearance.
Best regards,
Steve
