Hello again -
I received a reply from Gene Monnier, who took a look at the photos. He said "Possibly Clowesetum JEM's Grand Cascade (Clowesia glaucoblossa x Catasetum Orchidglade)." I think he meant glaucoglossa...
My feeling - at least this is a feasible ID; whether or not it is correct is way out of my area of guesspertise. But I will re-label it thusly until I learn differently.
I knew it was not full Ctsm, and I am reluctant to make up names on my own (it could happen!).
Thanks for all the help and suggestions. Not many things I enjoy more than browsing photos of catasetinae!
Cheers - Nancy
blooming: Ctsm. pileatum 'Jumbo Green Gold' and Cyc. peruvianum.

Nancy: if he said it-I would label it as such--that way if he's wrong you've got someone to blame----How many ctsm's or type do you have?

Hi Mark -
I think, like many hybrids, that it is very very hard to say for sure, but Mr. JEM's opinion certainly carries a lot of weight with me.
If you were serious about the "how many" question...the only group I have more of is vandaceous (south Louisiana, they have to love the heat!). I did take advantage of JEM's "leaving FL too many hurricanes back-to-back" sale a couple of years ago, and got just a great bunch of plants for a relatively small investment.
These do grow on you, though, don't you think? They just don't look like all the other flowers, or smell like them. I get such a frisson every time one of them flowers. I brought the pileatum to my orchid soc. meeting this evening (the flowers were just about finished) and let a few people 'diddle' the pollinia - a real crowd-pleaser! What other orchid does that?
Cheers - Nancy

Nancy;
The name per the tag would be Catasetum [Ctsm.] Mark's Loving Cup which is a cross done by Mark Margolis - if you are on facebook you may be able to speak to Mark about this cross.
