Fredclarkeara After Dark
I got this as a gift from a friend a number of years ago. It is one of the original seedlings from the original cross. The minute it bloomed I knew it was award worthy. I have tried for a number of years to get it to Judging but something always came up, poorly formed spikes, flowers not open enough or too far gone, car battery died. This year it has put out 3 new growths on which there are a combined total of 8 spikes carrying 94 buds. It will make it to Judging this year by hook or by crook. It is fully staked and just waiting for the flowers to open. Fingers crossed!

Thanks you to you both, I'm pleased with it and myself. Fortunately it is Show Season here in Florida so that there will be more opportunities for me to get it to Judging, hopefully I will make it this year.

Wow, that is amazing...and most definitely a WINNER. Be sure to post photos when he blooms. Does it usually spike like this during dormancy?

Looks like it's going to be gorgeous once in full bloom! I really really hope that you manage to get it to a show.

They normally bloom fairly late in the season but mine seems to bloom much later than most, almost always after it has lost it's leaves. This time I actually removed the last of the leaves so that I could stake it .
