Hello, Frederico;
It has been about 3 years since I obtained a peloric Stanhopea tigrina (marked S. tigrina violacea) from Mark Pendleton at Brookside Orchids. I know that he sold divisions (5 to Doug Pulley and one to another commercial grower) to others, but mine has produced 4 or 5 inflorescences already from a very small division. I could send you a photo for comparison, I guess. My question to you is, did you sell a division of this to him or to somebody else who could have sold a quite large plant (20-30 pseudobulbs) to him? If this is a totally different plant, then it would make sense to make an outcrossing, to try to make a deliberately peloric line. The peloric plant that I have bloomed well with outdoors growth in Redwood City Emerald Hills (near San Francisco, California). So, although we have about 75 plantlets in flask at the moment from the last selfing, an outcross would be more interesting, still, and also perhaps have a market large enough to pay for the bother of raising the plantlets. What do you think?
