Second spike just opened ! Caught me by surprise as the spike bent from the weight of the blooms !!! Had to quickly add another support to it ! Amazes me how green the buds are and the second day when fully open how yellow the blooms are !!! The plant is 27" from base to tip of top leaf !!! It stretches the "windowsill" size description !

Now you know if I say they grow like weeds and you go out and buy one, you'll probably kill it !!! Seriously, I don't find them hard at all ! In fact, part of the reason they are my favorite alliance is that they are so easy for ME in MY environment with MY personal culture routine !!! They comprise almost half of my collection = 72 right now and it doesn't stop there ! For another strange reason the chids I like best are the ones that do best for me !!! I'm trying semi/hydro this season for some of them because I just got a lot more with some NOIDs. The MAJOR reason they are my favorite is just watching and being a part of the experience of them going from a teeny tiny new growth bud to some of the biggest pbulbs (15" bare pbulb !) and everything smaller, leafing out to 29" and smaller ones, then blooming gorgeous, odd, fragrant, colorful blooms ALL IN ONE SEASON !!!!! If you're just starting I'd recommend Cycnoches or Cycnodes as they seem to be easiest of the bunch. I never had any trouble growing a plant from one of their backbulbs. Good luck !
