Found as a small to medium sized, warm to hot growing epiphyte or lithophyte from Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador at elevations around 500 to 1500 meters medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with fusiform pseudobulbs enveloped completely by imbricating dry, inflated leaf sheaths with the uppermost carrying elliptic, plicate, basally clasping, acute leaves and blooming in the spring on an erect, 8" [20 cm] long, several flowered, racemose inflorescence enveloped basally by imbricating, inflated, acuminate bracts and fragrant [albeit foul], hermaphroditic, non resupinate flowers that are variable in shape and color.

What you found is very interesting - thank you a lot.

Dressleria dilecta is a remarkable species. It stands near the Tribe Maxillarieae, and it is of very ancient origin and hence deserves good cultivation.

Any advice pertaining to cultivation, SOMEBODY ??

The truth of the matter is, this plant is very rare in cultivation here in the US. Nobody really knows what it is.

I myself have been looking for years for one specimen to even be available.

I am sad to confess that i´ve killed three dresslerias years ago. All I can say is that they did grow well in German summer, but the winters were too long and cold. Keep them constantly warm to hot with only a short period of rest. I assume, if you have success with cycnoches over the years, you can succeed.
