Nice one !!! Is it harder to grow than Catasetums ? I'm a Ctsm nut but I never did good with Gongs. With a fragrance like that and beautiful color I'm tempted to try again !!!

Those colors are stunning! Very unusual for Gongora. Are these colors typical for this species?

Thank you Chryss and Steve,I don't know if it is harder to grow because I don't have any catasetums, but for me it is easy to grow them and bloom.

I just got off the phone with Fred Clarke and he clued me that, yes, Gongoras are the hardest in the alliance to grow. They like it warm and warmer, which is to say the hotter the better = no intermediate, which is why I killed a few. I told him about my new T5 4' 6bulb fixture and how it's 10 degrees hotter under it than right next to it under my T8 fixture, it's been in the 80s to mid 90s (just checked and it's 92 & 84), and he told me that would be fine as long as the night temp doesn't drop a lot. I'll probably break down and try one again, if I can find a vendor to twist my arm !!!!!

Hello to all,I have four gongora's and only for 2 years, and three of them were blooming for me already twice this year.I keep them in my greenhouse and during the summer time I keep my greenhouse not hotter then 83F and during the winter sometimes temperature goes down to 52F and I have no problem with them. They grow in the basket and I water them every other day,and when the new growth is growing I pay attention not to leave any water on it

Well, I DID get my arm twisted for $15 and got Gongora galeata 'Gremlin' when I visited the Fishing Creek Orchids open house. Got 5 others also !!! Mormodes sinuata, Mormodia Painted Desert 'Cardrona', Clowesia Kengar ' Phantasies', Clowesetum Dragon's Treasure, and Darwinara Charm. I'll post pix of Clowesia and Mormodia when they open as both are in bud, and I'll post pix of Darwinara as she's in bloom !!! Tomorrow.
