Chryss - I agree totally, that is where the mid December comes from for me. Over the years it just seems that is usually, for me anyway, the time to slow down my watering but there are indeed no hard and fast rules to most of what we do to our plants. Except maybe, to throw them away when they die!!

heh now you see why I stopped watering it? it started to spike again anyway with no leaves on it..hmmmm

hasnt had water since late august when the last leaf dropped from the heat. put it under the bench and its been sitting there ever since. I got everything moved to the new location last weekend and found it had a spike growing....I had that one thought wrong hey?

but during when the flower is about to bloom, they would need the slightly extra watering. but just observe the bulb, the moment you notice some wrinkle appearance on the bulb which is now plum and fat, its time to water then.
over here (tropical climate), recently i notice that when they are about to bloom, after i shifted the ctsm callosum in due to the heavy rain spell, the flower are a little bit "down" when the media is dry, after a "shower", they are as good as new.
