A friend of mine said it was the uggliest thing she had ever seen, when i showed her a picture so its not an orchid for everybodys taste

The way these orchids coexist with bees and ants, and how they are dependent on each other to reproduce and survive, is also facinating.
I have been so fortunate to be in my growing area at the right moment, and when the buds open you can sometimes hear it. It takes 3-4 hours for the flower to open up fully, and the minty smell makes it worth growing this orchid alone.
I think that if "sombody" created these orchids, this "sombody" must have a greate sence of humor
