Catasetum ariquemense
Have been growing this up from a baby and it has finally bloomed, one spike is already finished, one is in bloom and the third is in bud. Not too shabby for a first time bloom.

Nice blooms. Patience is a virtue. How long did you have to wait?

4 1/2 almost 5 years. I didn't mind though, it is one of the last Catasetum to be discovered and I just had to have it so I bought a tiny seedling and I am so glad that I did. Can't wait to hybridize with it, that frilly lip is wonderful.

Thanks, it's not always easy, even the experts don't get it right all of the time. There are those who strongly believe that this one is not a separate species but a natural hybrid of C rondonense and C parguazense, only time and science (DNA testing) will tell.

I pulled all the pollen from the current spike in bloom, hoping the next spike will be open for my Society Show this weekend, I feel an AOS Award coming my way, if the Judges have any sense.
