The first Stan after the winter (well, actually we're still in late winter, but the weather is getting better every day). A huge plant with only one spike and with only three flowers... perhaps new spikes are coming around!

Bud - The majority of the Stanhopea Alliance genera bloom on spikes that grow down instead of up, that is why the are grown in baskets, they sometimes will come out the sides but mostly the bottom of the basket.

This is not a common species to see. Its eye spots are huge and the hypochile is bent almost 90 degrees! Very unique species indeed!
