The Stanhopea Pages by Nina Rach, edited July 2007 are reliable sources, but Stan oculata taxonomy is a mess!
I think the best way is to follow Dr Jenny advice: the only important thing is morphology, mainly lip morphology, to determine the correct species; doesn't mind the color (if there is - or not - 'eye spots', speckles in petals/sepals etc.), the size of flowers, the vegetative aspect etc. Anyway the real status of this species (oculata) only will be confirmed in the future, with genetic mapping!
