My question to all of you Catasetiinea hobbbists out there...Which one would you mount on cork? How big a piece. These are all 2 bulb divisions. This is a new alliance for me to grow.
I dont mount my orchids so i really cant help you here. I am sure you can mount them all if you like. I only wanted to point out that Catasetinae needs LOTS of water when growing, so make sure you are able to provide it if you mount them. In my experience they do great in S/H - just another option to consider. Good luck!
i have mounted 15 plants of catasetum incurvum on "J" shaped pieces of log about 3" in diameter, some with bark, some without. most are doing well after 6 months, especially the roots, which are so white and plump. in arthur holst's book " the world of catasetums" he advises to go against accepted practice and mount them.
I looked up catasetum incurvum, what a cool looking orchid. I decided to mount the (Ctsm Frilly Doris SVOII AM/AOS x Cstm pileatum 'Big Boy'). Tomorrow I'll select the right mount. That way the chid won't know what happened to it since it is in the rest period Maybe down the road I'll do one of the cycnoches. Thanks.
Anybody else who has mounted these guys I'm still open to suggestions.
