Gongora latisepala - Orchid Board

Gongoras have long chains of these weird flowers off and on during the year. They are quite fragrant. They will grow and bloom in a variety of conditions, but they perform best when they are grown in small pots or baskets and kept constantly moist. Since they bloom from the bottom of the growths, many growers prefer baskets so that they never "lose" a spike in the pot.

The coloration on that one is stunning! Are you going to bring back a plant of this one for you collection?

No. It's too large for my little terrarium setup. I will be putting together a small order for Ecuagenera to ship next time they're in the states. They're in the US for shows about 15 times per year, so I won't have too long to wait!

This is another Genus I'm not usually so keen on, but your picture makes it look wonderful and I start to see what people like about them.

Beautiful color! How big Gongora latisepala gets? I only have Gongora galeata with leaves about 9" tall is Gongora latesepala larger?

This plant was a first-bloom seedling. That said, all the Gongoras I've seen are about the same size, topping out at 12-14" tall. Once they're growing well, it's the diameter of the plant that becomes a concern!
