Hello. This is a great plant and have flowered for me three times this year! This time the flower looks different. I assume it is a female flower.
Also as it produced a bud on the spike it also produced roots. So now it is a spike/keiki. Is there a chance to properly root after flowering is gone or the spike will be too weak to grow into adult plant?
I never had a keiki on Cycnoches and i am not sure how to handle it. How do i disconnect it from the mother plant? Will it need a winter rest? Thanks!
even though I have never seen it first hand, apparently it seems common for some Cycnoches (I know several cases by friends' plants) to produce roots from the spikes... I do not know the reasons for this behaviour! However, apparently no PBs is developed from these rooted spikes, and therefore no real keikis are produced...
on the other hand, very nice female flower! very good color!

Good point Kavanaru! I could try to treat is a keiki after blooming is finished if it is easy to "take off" the mother plant. I mean i dont have anything to lose really.

maybe leave it on a while and see if it forms bulb?
Could do that. Hmm... As far as I know Cycnoches have new bulbs formed of nods on bulbs usually at the bottom of bulbs. If this is not a bulb then how will new bulb form? Just thinking out loud here.
