So interesting, I never knew catasetums have male and female flowers!

Yeah, they do. Last year mine was male and this year female. Another spike has formed on this plant since I began this thread. This one is located on the shadier side of the plant and it will be interesting to see if this difference influences the sexual development of the flowers.

Catasetums are known for going through a period of leaf drop and dormancy during winter. This plant hasn't shown signs of dormancy yet and I hope the spike has a chance to develop before her resting period begins. It might be too late in the season for another successful bloom.
