Catasetum pileatum var. "Oro Verde"
I bought this plant last year as a small seedling and now is giving me its first blooming now. The shape, color and size of the flowers are really amazing, but is unscented, very strange because I know that oro verde has a strong fragance like their relatives.

Wow!! That is one of the most vivid, neon greens I have ever seen! Congrats!

Very nice, 'Oro Verde' is really nice clone! Indeed, it is weird that your plant is not fragrant... I've had 5 'Oro Verde' from different sources in Europe, and have kept 2 of them so far... One of this plants comes from exactly the same nursery as yours... However, all plants are mericlones coming from the same source in Taiwan... and all of them are fragrant!

Well just today started to show up a slight scent, jejejeje after three days. I have to admit this clone is one of the best pileatums I have now in my collection.
By the way, thanks for all the coments.

Don't worry... stop watering the plant now... it can bloom without leaves and not getting water... if you can post a picture pf your plant, that would help a lot to identify any potential problem, even though I would not expect any! I am posting one of my pileatum that regularly bloom after loosing the leaves...
what you should try to do next year is try to force dormancy by the end of the year, when the pseudobulb is already mature. I would say, reduce watering and stop fertilizing by beginning of October, and by end of November you should have stopped all watering (I know there is the rule of stopping by Halloween, but I have realized at this latitude some plants need a bit longer to grow)

don't worry about watering just stop it now! That pseudobulb is very strong and gorgeous
wait until you get a strong new growth with roots at least 2-3 inches long ;( then slowly start watering again...
