Hi forum!

This is my Cycnoches. I bought it as "loddigesii" but I think it's chlorochilon.. or warscewiczii ?

Can anyone confirm?

I suppose it's chlorochilon and I'm a little bit disappointed as I wanted a loddigesii, but before having seen its green buds and later its flowers, I couldn't realize it wasn't my desired orchid!

Anyway.. I understood the Cycnoches have a light fragrance, but not mine.
Do they smell or not?

Furthermore, since one month I'm not watering the plant as I heard it must stay "dry". Is it ok?
It lives inside home, temperature from 17° C (night) to 21°-22° (day). I cannot raise the temp... Is it too cool?

Thanks for your help!

My guess would be that it is warscewiczii, bit could also be ventricosum or lehmanii (hard to tell with the flowers fully open). The petals are too wide and short for chlorochilon. I am sure Kavanaru will be able to identify correctly.

My chlorochiulon has a strong scent: hard to describe. Your flowers are not open yet, it may take a few days before the scent appears. I think that all the other green flowering Cycnoches also have a scent.

Thanks Lars! Hope Kavanaru can give me confirmation

So, they smell... when the flower is open..

Two buds are still closed, but the one in the picture is open, isn't it?

Anyway, hope it has a good smell.. I'm really disappointed for my "missed loddigesii"

I am growing in an intermediate greenhouse. You might need more humidity inside your house. I was told that 60 degrees F was at the very low side side of night temps. Since then I've raised night temps to 64F. I live in Northern California where I get lots of fog. I have cycnoches Jumbo Puff just getting ready to open. I think that it will look like yours. The unopened buds are green/yellow.

Cheers

John

Gotta wait unti the buds open more. I think it looks like warscewiczii, but will have to wait a bit more until the flower opens up. It is definitely not loddigesii though. Once the flowers open, there should be a very nice scent.

no need to open completely That's 100% Cyc. warscewiczii... petals too wide and "horizontal"...

but, yes, post photos of the fully open flowers we all would love to see that show!

Thank you! As soon as I have light enough to take a picture of the 3 buds opening, I'll post it!

I tried right now, but artificial light doesn't work good..

And now that I definitively know its name , can you please give me more information about its care?

The seller told me it was a "loddigesii" but this is not true.. He also told me the plant must stay dry (no water at all!) until I see new roots... Is this true?

This is my growing care: in home, as told before, night 17° C (= 64 ° F), day 21°-22° C (= about 70° F), humidity about 70-75% (whole day).

Do you think it's ok?
