Default Need help identifying new growth on Stanhopea

I purchased this Stanhopea Ronsard last September. It was repotted shortly thereafter and began growing 2 new bulbs in early December.

Now it's July and 2 new growths have popped up...or should I say down. They're pointed and whiter in appearance than last year's bulb growth. This is my first Stanhopea and I haven't yet learned how to distinguish the bulbs from the spikes. What do you guys think...spikes or bulbs???

Thanks.

Terrific, that's just super! I had a feeling that's what they might be due to the timing of bulb growth late last year.

Stepped out of my comfort zone with this purchase and along with this one I added 2 other newbies...a Catasetum piliatum 'Oro Verde', and a Prosthechia cochleata. The jury's still out on the last 2.

That is really cool. Nice reward on your first Stanhopea - good growing!

Default Sanhopea spikes

Good for you! I had my first blooms this year on my Stanhopea. I found it took about a month from spikes about your size to blooms so be patient!

Progress Report: It's been 10 days and the buds still look healthy and have grown about 2" longer.

Sorry I missed your post. No, I purchased it from Orchids by Eli, an eBay vendor. Most of his plants are sold as "buy it now".He's ships from Puerto Rico and does an excellent job of packing the plants. I've purchased 3 plants from him and they were all healthy and of good size. He does get a little confused on chid names though. He had this one listed as a Rorsand instead of a Ronsard and I've seen a few other name glitches in his collection.
