I have 3 different clones of this species, this has the largest flowers. All three of them tend to send the bloom spike across the surface of the potting medium. On the first day when it first opens in the moning it has a chocolate like fragrance with under tones of camphor. By the third day it smells of camphor only. This is one of Doug Pulley's plants.

I would rate this species as cool to intermediate. I grow indoors under lights most of the year. The temps. in the winter range from 55* at night to about 70* during the day. Most of my stanhopeas go out side about the end of May for the summer. I have over 100 stanhopeas.
