Frederico, thanks for additional information about the name! Great!

Well, yes, I know, that at the moment, according present classification, Galeandras belong to Cymbidieae tribe, but! There is a revolutionary group here and they do not like to see Galeandras there ……

well, this is a long discussion regarding where this genus (as well as Cyrtopodium and Grobyia) belongs to...

According to the latest publications I have seen, there is phylogenetic and taxonomic information relating the three above mentioned genera in the same subtribe Catasetinae.

**(sorry, I wanted to add two links here, but they are not working anymore: one from University of Florida and the other with a link to publications from Cassio van den Berg. I think I have printed teh articles and should have them in the office. If so, I could forward the PDF versions via e-mail)

I must admit I am not still 100% convinced that cyrtopodium should join Catasetinae instead of staying as Cyrtopodinae itself. For me, the data presented does not really support this.

also George's blog explain a bit this discussion:

Catasetinae: TWO NEW GENERA PROPOSED AS ADDITIONS TO THE SUBTRIBE

Steve, check my group in Flickr: Flickr: Catasetinae there are several pictures of Grobyia and some interesting Galeandras there... as well as other Catasetinae...

by the way... one of the articles explaining the relationship between these genera is:

Freudenstein, J. V. et al. 2004. An expanded plastid DNA phylogeny of
Orchidaceae and analysis of Kacknife Branch support strategy.
Am.J.Bot. 91(1): 149-157.
