Default Stanhopea connata

Pics using the cellphone (bad macros!). The Stan connata has this name 'cause it is the only Stan with the column "glued" (connata) to the hipochile (red arrow in the last photo). The spike is about 30cm long, more or less the same length of leaves. The perfume of flowers is very intense and delicious, sweet, with a touch of something chemical or plastic. Probably the last Stan of the season, it's getting cold here! Stan connata came from the eastern slopes of the Andes (Peru, Ecuador and Colombia), and grows in medium/high altitudes (1100 to 1700m)

Hi Friends!

Thanks for looking! Steve, I don't rest connata in the winter, I guess it grows better in more wet winters (winter is our dry season, but in 2009 the winter was amazingly wet, and I guess it grew better!)

Ok, that is an interesting bloom. The leaves are great looking! Thanks for sharing.
