First time bloomer from the 'dry forest' region of Panama (near Pedasi) and was growing on a friend's tree, so he let me have a small plant growing beneath the mother plant. This area was right on the ocean and there were tons of Brassavola nodosa in the trees nearby. Unfortunately, the high winds right now blew the spike over and broke it. Any thoughts as to what species this is? My guess is this is a very spotted variety of macrocarpum, but I don't know this species very well.
There are two buds, so I cut one in half to look inside and put the stem with one remaining bud in some water with the hopes that it will open soon! I dunno though. Pretty frustrating!
