Stanhopea...new growth or spikes?

This my Stanhopea ronsard. She was purchased in September, repotted a few months ago, and now has 2 new growths emerging. One growth is coming from the top and one is protruding from the side of the basket. I'm not sure if these are bulb growths or spikes. To me, it seems a little late in the season for her to be growing at all. The temperatures here have been unseasonably warm, so it's possible that she's confused.

it looks to me that they are new bulb growths coming, the flower spike tend to be a lot fatter and a little darker compared to the bulb growths and anyway the plants look a bit young to be producing flowers but i think that can depends in the plant and how happy it is.
The plants look very happy anyway and i hope it will flower soon for you!!

Thanks. The thought of new pseudobulbs is what I was leaning towards. The texture of the new growth seems more "leaf like" if that makes sense.

Now I have another question. Is it common for new bulbs to emerge from the sides instead of the top. Will this pattern of growth cause harm to the plant? Perhaps I should repot and try to reposition the bulb???

Don’t worry about repotting!! it is normal for stanhopeas to produce bulbs on the side of the basket, considering the it has not been in the basket for that long i would leave it alone and let grow as it likes as the plants is happy it can stay how it is. when it gets to big for the basket (in about 3 or 4 years time at the earliest) the ones that form in the side and be taken off and made into a separate plant (as long there are 3 - 4 bulbs to each division) and pot them up.
Back to your question i would say leave it how it is!!!!

These are definitely new growths. Stans will often put out new bulbs in the weirdest places. I've got one that is in a basket almost identical to yours and it has a bulb coming out the very bottom. They don't know that they are supposed to grow neatly on top of the media! Silly plants!
