Default Catasetum pileatum var. Aureum 'Christina'

This is teh same plant I posted a while ago, which was supposed to be white/yellow... it keeps getting better everytime, the fragance is even stronger than last year very strong tutti-frutti... there was another spike with many more flowers (22!!) but unfortunatelly got broken (too heavy and the edge of the pot too sharp)...

I learned my lesson: S/H pot^s edges are too sharp for catasetinae spikes... this one, and the third one which is growing now are getting some help to keep them off the edge of the pot.

Last season, the flowers were about 10 cm wide. This year: 12 cm wide!!

I could not decide which photo I should post, so here you have all three

Ramon, wow I do not what to say, that plant is spectacular . Why are you calling it aureum if it is an ouro verde ???. It is really a good one, and another question why is blooming at this time of the year, it is suppose to be getting into dormancy soon. Once again congratulations for such a beauty pileatum and I also regret not to see the blooming of the broken spike. By the way do not forget to send the picture to Jan, he will have a heart attack seeing this ouro verde
(Is this the clone that comes from France???).

Gena, I was travelling a lot the last few weeks, and never thought that the sharp edge of the pot would be a danger I learned my lesson...

Bruno, this plant has flowers with more intense colors and stronger fragrance than the clon 'Oro Verde' (which is also var. aureum) and the flowers are larger (compared to my two plants which I bought as 'Oro Verde')

This plant belonged to the private collection of the owner of a nursery in Germany. He gaves the nursery to his son, and he sold the plant. Howeevr, this plant was supposed to have white and yellow flowers (if I would have known it would be green and yellow I would have not bought it! I am happy I did not know it!!)

I decided to give it the clonal name 'Christina'... "Keeps gettin' better"

Ramon,
That pileatum is killer! Another instance where I wish I could smell it.
