Aceetobe, mormodes female flowers are also very clear to distinguish. As you pointed out, in female flowers the column twisted upwards to one side of the flower allowing an easy polinization by the euglosae bees. The male flowers do not show rotated columns and they cannot become female just when is removed the pollinia, that is a false story. Look at the picture that I enclosed with this note where it is highlited both male and female flowers in one blooming spike. By the way, to have female flowers in mormodes the plant must be very strong and healthy, here it doesn´t work the light factor. Hope the question is clarified now.
