Default Catasetum vinaceum

Catasetum vinaceum is blooming now for the very first time in its life – the plant is still very young. But I have to say I’m very pleased with flowers.
This wonderful Brazilian species can be found in Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul States . Species is extremely variable in colour. Shown plant is a cross between two forms, namely tipo and bicolor.

Steve, saying truth I don’t know yet! It’s ridiculous, but I didn’t have possibility to smell it during the day ….

Dave, it is not big at all –biggest leaves are about 9-9.5 in, biggest PB is approximately 3 in and the flowers are 2.4 in across.
