This is a first bloom that I got from TOF as a seedling a few years back. As always, the blooms coming from TOF plants are even better than I had hoped for. I really like the purple spotting on this one and the pink splotches on the bottom half of the plant. Of course, as with most Stans, the scent is just amazing! Enjoy!

P.S. Do you guys think this one really is napoensis? I'm looking on Dr. Gerlach's site (http://www.orchidsrepbiol.de/cgi-bin...inae&t=usr_gg1) to make sure that this really is the same plant as the lablel says, but I just can't seem to make out the differences of insignis, platyceras and napoensis. Any help would be great!

The stanhopea you got from TOS is not napoensis.
It is platyceras. The horns on mesochile of napoensis form a catenary curve and are sharply pointed on the end. The ends of the horns on platyceras a softer curve and are blunt at the ends. Also the median plates of the hypochile on platyceras is almost nonexistant. Thoses of napoensis are much wider.

Beautiful Stan platyceras! Unfortunately, Stan napoensis is amazingly rare and expensive (if available)

I was hoping that you would jump into this conversation! Thanks for information! I had a feeling that it was platyceras, but I was having trouble trying to get an ID just from pics alone. Now I have to change the tag and keep looking for napoensis!!
