June, I think that my plant must have somehow sensed that I was admiring the pictures you posted of your wardii earlier this morning. When I came home for lunch I noticed that the buds on my plant had opened (I thought they had another day or two to go before they fully ripened--but that's not a complaint :-).

Congratulations! Your blooms are gorgeous. My baby is a wardii occulata cross. In photos the blooms appear to have a lot of deep yellow in them. Time will tell. I'm going to repot her into something with larger holes this weekend. Don't want to take the chance of anything restricting future blooms.
Laura, the flowers do have a scent. To my nose they smell like a combination of lemon and vanilla. It's especially pervasive between early morning and mid afternoon.
