Mormodes maculata var. unicolor Male
Default Mormodes maculata var. unicolor

Mormodes maculata var. unicolor starts blooming. This year it blooms quite shy, but, as compensation it produced second spike. Unfortunately, spikes are developing consecutively. This specie is beautifully fragrant with very strong and powerful aroma, which is very pleasant (at least to me …… I feel myself like an euglossine bee for a second day in a row ).

I thought it can be rather interesting to compare flowers of Mormodes maculata var. unicolor and Mormodes maculata which finished blooming for some weeks ago. Here they are.

Wow! They are both fantastic. The vibrant yellow and the intense spots.
