Default Stanhopea tigrina

The buds opened this morning after I had left the house for work, so the anticipation of coming home to these was quite intense all day. I brought the plant into the house (it was outside and I didn't want to take the chance of it being discovered by the local grasshopper population), and when I came home this afternoon I could smell the scent as soon as I opened the front door (which is a considerable distance from the sunroom). Very nice fragrance to these (unlike the stinky anfracta, which got banished to the front porch).

Looks awesome! I would love to see some pics of the whole plant.....if you have time. Heck, if your anfracta is still blooming I would love to see a comparison shot of the flowers just to see the size difference. If its not too much trouble though!!

That is gorgeous !!!! Just like Steve I would love to see a plant picture if possible. I can't wait for mine to bloom. Maybe 2 years or so.

Steve and Rolando, here's a picture of the tigrina--well, actually two of them (or perhaps one, depending on your point of view). The one on the left was split from the piece that's flowering back in the spring (instead of blooming, it's decided to put its energy into producing two new growths--the piece that's blooming, on the other hand, has not made any new growths this season). The plant with the two spikes on the right is Stan. wardii.

Steve, the second photo is of the Stanhopea martiana that I had emailed you about. Sorry it's taken me this long to photograph it. It's got at least seventy new leads that are currently forming, along with I don't know how many older growths. So hopefully when it decides to bloom it will actually turn out to be an authentic martiana.

Steve

The martiana's in a twelve-inch basket. I probably could have split it up, but I was a wimp and simply plopped the whole thing, basket and plant, into a larger sized basket. The idea of splitting it up and playing tug-o-war with all of those growths was a bit too daunting of a task for me.
