It is always interesting to compare male flowers with female, so here is female flower on the same plant from last year.

Wow, that is very different! What an unusual looking female Cycnoches. Thanks for the comparison!

Sorry, Gena. I couldn't help myself. When I see flowers as amazing and inspiring as yours, I have to run with it. BTW, that second picture of the male flowers from the most recent bloom would make an incredible calendar photo!!!! Save it for next year!!

I would not imagine that this cycnoches has female flowers bending the petals backwards. Interesting for this case, male are prettier than female.

Gena that is a beautiful set of flowers on the second blooming. I absolutely fell in love with Cycnoches. I so want to get a pentodactylon. Hopefully soon before the end of the year or I might get it early next year or whenever they are in active growth again.

It is indeed, Jan! And you are absolutely right, female flowers of Cycnoches, at least those which I have on my plants or seen, are flat.
This one was flat from the beginning, but with age petals and sepals started turned backwards. I was very surprised and yes, my first thought was that it must be hermaphroditic flower. Because of it I inspected flower very carefully ….. what I can say, I couldn’t find not a single trace from male flowers, so I’m pretty sure that it was a female flower. Does it typical for this particular species, for me it hard to say, because it bloomed only once with female flowers and I didn’t see female flowers on Cycnoches pentadactylon somewhere else. We will see in future how it will be!

Oh, Rolando, I fell in love with them each single time I see them in a price list! Even with those which I already have!

Well, in US you really do have good possibility to get one, and very good one!
I do not remember if I mentioned it before but my plant is from Brazil, from Chácara Bela Vista.
I wish you that you get one soon!
