Hi Beto!

Ecuatorian Stan napoensis is probably the rarest among the most rare Stanhopeas! It belongs to the same taxonomic group of Brazilian Stan insignis, though separated by thousands of kilometres (Stans have their mysteries!). Another source is Stanhopea napoensis Dodson , and napoensis

Beto,
I don't know if you can order from the U.S., but I got my napoensis from Tropical Orchid Farm here in Hawaii. Here is the link: Tropical Orchid Farm Catalog

Be carefull when ordering stanhopeas from TOF ( Tropical Orchid Farm in HI.) Quite a few of there stanhopeas are not correctly identfied. This is what I received as TOF12333 Stan. napoensis "Colombian Aloha" X self. It is definitely Stan. platyceras. Not bad if that is what you had oredered.

Hey, thats good to know! Have you been able to inform them of this? They do import a lot of unknown plants only to find out that they are a different species than originally thought and will spend some $$ with genetic testing to find out the truth. Thanks for the heads up!

Isurus
I told Kathy about the napoensis/platyseras issue some time ago. There is another stan. being offered currently that is misidentified TOF2241 Stan. graveolens 'Yellow", this was originally offered as Stan. guttulata but it should be Stan. wardii. Just check out there own pictures. Stan. graveolens has no pronunced dark eye spot and stinks of mothballs. Stan. wardii is pleasent smelling and has the dark eyespot and the shape of the hypochile is quite different than graveolens and guttulata.
Don't get me started on Nina Rach's "Stanhopea Pages "there are some real misidentified things there starting with the opening page.
