Spike or new growth?
This is what I saw the other day on my Gongora chocoensis. It already has 3 new growths developing and this is emerging between 2 mature growths. I only ask because this one looks a little "different". Any ideas??

Hey Orcdfrk, thanks for the vote of confidence and sorry I didn't catch this thread earlier. I agree with the spike, although it is still young & developing and can be confusing. If it is a spike it should elongate very quickly and should take about 4 to 5 week's to flower. If a growth it will fatten up and the leaf's tip will start to show out of the top and also develop quickly ![cheer](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/cheer.gif) Gongora chocoensis is a very handsome orchid mainly white flower's with very predominant reddish brown markings on the edge of the sepals and a large spot on the lip. The spot on the lip can also at times have a yellow boarder which is an even greater contrast. Flowers are also fairly large as far as Gongora's go ![Drool](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/new/drool.gif)

Well, I think it gonna turn out to be a new growth and not a spike. But thats ok. If I had to choose between new growths or flowers, I'd choose the new growth. The blooms will come. Thanks for the info Craig. Like I said; it just looked different and odd that it would be appearing between mature growths and not from the perimeter of the plant, but what do I know.
