Dilemma!

Okay, I have this Cyc. warscewiczii that had a fab bloom show,when that finished it started to shed leaves... and now it's sending another spike.
I usually stop most watering when the leaves start to go.
But what about this spike?
I don't want to rot anything, but I don't want to lose the spike either.

Opinions?

I'd keep watering it, but maybe cut back on fertilizing a bit. I've had mine in full bloom with no leaves at all. Let's see what the others have to say.

I would not stop watering completely, but water MUCH less. When the blooms drop, water as normal for winter rest. If you are really worried about rot, you could probably even get away with no water at all, if you want. Just watch for excessive p-bulb shriveling and treat accordingly.

I think you should send the plant to me for further investigation

I'd water less, maybe once a week or so to keep the spike going without rotting the pbulbs.

But, no, I think I will investigate the matter for myself.

I think that is very coherant advice that is offered, so I will cut back the watering to one/per week, and hope that spike does show.

Got another one that I just bought, it's a lodigesii with one small new growth starting and very little root.
Here at a time when we are STOPPING, this bulb looks like it's just starting.
Hmmph.

Well, I won't water that one until I see some new root start up, just as I would wait on any cataset.
This time of year, who knows if that new growth will really go anywhere.
