Fair enough...
Granted, I never specifically "decided" anything for anybody as to what to specifically name their plants. Whether implied or otherwise stated.
I merely suggested something that may be helpful to others, and I tried to present it in as humorous a manner as I could think of at the time, given the limitations of interactions over the internet. The post I made, I felt, has particular implications in terms of researching a specific plant.
Who knows, maybe there are quite a few other people out there who think the same way I do on this regard?. I highly doubt I'm the only one on this entire planet who would like to speak out about this particular subject matter.
Whether I post my opinions, thoughts, or statements here on the OB, I do realize it still will not stop anyone from naming a Persiteria hybrid, Peristeria Alata.
If the suggestion is not to anybody's liking, they have the option of ignoring it completely.
If I come/came across as condescending, then I sincerely apologize. Being condescending has never been the goal of my posts. It has always been about education, learning, and spreading ideas. Do understand that while it isn't always apparent - I'm learning from you guys too, in more ways than is obvious, and not necessarily with anything orchid related.

If there was an opportunity for you to make a Peristeria hybrid and come up with a registered name for it, please don't be serious about the above comment or even entertain it enough to make it happen, please...
Yes ...its sounds like a fun suggestion

Well... to be honest, I didn't explicitly or implicitly say that it was a "fun suggestion"...now that would've been blatantly condescending.
Quite frankly, my suggestion really asks to sacrifice a little bit of fun for the sake of making things less confusing for other orchid growers who may need to do research for their plant.
My explanation for the posting was that I tried to present the topic in as humorous a manner as I could think of at the moment. I did make an honest attempt at structuring the post in a way that would get the point across and yet not hurt anyone. So I made a mistake and failed. That doesn't mean I was purposefully trying to be condescending.
Perhaps the wording of the paragraph seemed like a personal attack because I chose to include the word "you". Maybe a different choice of word arrangements would've changed the matter, who knows.
I DID apologize after all.

Maybe we can all agree, in the interest of diplomacy and good taste, that if a new Peristeria hybrid is registered, "Steve" would be a good name for it. It has a certain sort of ring to it that I--and I would imagine everyone else--would find admirable for an orchid. :-)

Lol
'Steve' does have a nice ring to it.
I'm not much of a fan of Latinized hybrid names anyways.

Peristeria elata spike
So, assuming that I'm successful at keeping the slugs and snails away, I should be able to post a pic' or two of the blooms sometime within the next four to six weeks. The other pic' gives an idea of the plant size; it's currently growing in a twelve-inch pot, and I don't think it's probably reached full maturity yet (although, being that I have no other plants to compare it to, maybe this could be considered a full-fledged adult).

Second spike makes its appearance
At first I thought this second spike was a mushroom! It was pushing up a bit away from the other mature pseudobulb and of a lighter color than the first spike, as if it had briefly (although I don't know how) become stuck before pushing its way through the bark. Upon spotting the "mushroom" I began to chastise myself for obviously having poor cultural techniques or lousy plant hygiene. Then when I realized what it really was, I nearly jumped for joy.
