Default Catasetum Susan Fuchs 'Burgundy Chips'

This is the same plant that gave me my avatar photo last year. Definitely one of my favorites, though about a month ago I noticed that on of the spikes had been bumped in the wind and had snapped off. I was very very very , but then I got another spike (the one you see today) and I also noticed a third one coming in today! Sweet.

Nice flowers, Steve. I wish I could obtain one of these. Ah, well, so many orchids, so little money! LOL

Steve, that's a gorgeous plant!! Congrats!!!

I think I will only have to envy you this year. While in Paris, all my Catasetinae have gotten attacked by spider mites and they currently really look in bad state. So, I do not think I will see any catasetinae blooming this year...

I even think I will loose my Cycnoches haagei

Thanks for the compliment Ramon! That sux about your spider mite problem. I bet your plants will live but maybe not flower this year. Thats a bummer. As I recall you have some really cool Catasetinae. Im actually in a similar boat though. I concocted a disasterous experiment this past winter and several of my Cycnoches barely made it out alive or not at all. A few, like my barthiorum and William Clarke will probably not bloom this year! I know how you feel. Oh well, there's always next year!

well, you are right... I only hope I manage to save the cycnoche haagei (that's a very special plant, for me at leat ) and I was looking forward to seeing my Catasetum pileatum "White" in bloom this year (imported from Venezuela last winter).. but I will have to wait one year more...
