Default Cyc. Jean E Monnier #2

Finally, some male flowers!! This is another Jean E Monnier that I have and is the first bloom for this little guy. I was REALLY happy to see that it has a very white/pink lip that really stands out against the rest of the flower. Kind of unusual. Im expecting BIG things from this primary hybrid in the future! I had to use a flash with these pics and some of the red was washed out, but you get the basic idea for how this one looks. The last pic is the best representation of the true color. Again, Im stoked!

Very nice color! I've only seen about 3-4 of these, but most have colors that are fairly muted.
Do you think subsequent flowerings will have different colors? I am beginning to suspect that this might be so in this group.
Good growing - Nancy

p.s. Steve - is this the same plant that you posted photos of earlier this month? The flowers (different sex or no) look really different.

Nancy,
The amount of sunlight can affect flower color (more sun=more vibrant color) but the male flowers should stay basically the same, though this is the first flowering for this plant so there might be more variation next year. This plant is also not the same one from a month ago. That one had the boy/girl flowers!

Yes, there is a mild 'orchidy' smell that comes from these ones. Not strong at all, but very pleseant!

Very nice pictures. My Jean Monnier is coming along nicely and we've just weathered tropical storm Fay here in NE Florida. I am hoping that maybe I'll have a spike later this fall or perhaps in the winter. Congrats on your superb flowering!
