Very cool! I like the rabbit ears on top and the yellow dot at the center. Do you know the parentage of this one?

There's a third leaf behind the two that I don't think is fully open yet...I wanted to catch the effect of the dolphin-looking interior on the right. I'll check parentage.
This is my first catasetum to bloom so I have lots to learn.

Penang Sweetheart is Ctsm. pileatum var. imperial x Ctsm. Susan Fuchs. The plant is approx. 18" tall. The blooms are about 4".

This is the only thing I found in Orchidwiz:

Catasetum Penang
(Catasetum Susan Fuchs x Catasetum pileatum)

Otter, that's a real beauty!
These guys spit...do not put it at eye level. It can be dangerous.

OtterCottage,

I think that your catasetum is very cool! Way to go on your first blooming.

I wasn't kidding about not holding it at eye level...a friend of mine knows somebody who had one spit directly into his eye and it took surgery to remove it

Wow, thanks for the warning. I faced it toward the window. I'll have to read more about it.
