I will be receiving my first stanhopea. It is currently potted. I want to repot into a net basket. What media do I need to use?

Thanks...Gregg

A little slow on responding on my end here... probably too late as you've probably already potted your plant by now but here goes...

I have Stan. Embrei which I potted in a 10" cedar basket. I used spag. to fill the gaps between the slats in the basket and then filled the basket with standard orchid potting mix ( Better Gro Special Orchid because it is easy to come by and I haven't had any issues with it).

I've had the plant for a year and change now, it's bloomed once and has two new growths on it which says to me it's happy with how I potted it. I'm happy with it enough to have just picked up a Stan. assidensis to go with it.

On the side - most of the info I've read on Stan. 's say they are intermediate plants but mine does just fine in the 90 - 95 degree F summers we have.

Go luck.
