Default Gongora galeata

Didn't know what this was until a flower opened yesterday. 35 peso plant from local nursery in Mar/Apr this year (about $3.40). It has 11 spikes including some that haven't put on buds yet. It may be my best purchase ever.

Couldn't resist adding my phal section (carport...pic 4)currently at 75 plants.
Several blooming dens hanging, sobralia in left foreground. Cats, dens, den nobiles, cyms, epis and misc species in small back garden. Moving the epis's and cyms to the roof as I'm running out of room.

Have to rush.....ordering more phals (anyone use Byrd's
Orchids for 2 1/4" seedlings?)

That plant is stunning! I am in total shock by how large and healthy it is!! Mine certainly pales in comparison...
What medium is it potted in ?

look like compost to me...but

"This is a medium sized, Mexican epiphytic, rarely lithophytic or terrestrial species found in mountain rain and cloud forests with liquambar at altitudes of 600 to 1800 meters that grows hot to warm and is suited for wire basket culture with sphagnum and woodchips " IOSE

IOSPE PHOTOS

I'm obviously no expert since I just found out what I had.
I've been watering on my phal schedule and that seems to work.
