Default Cyrtopodium paranaense

This one is finally in bloom, I've been patiently waiting for it to bloom out, and here's the results! Nice terrestrial Cow Horn Orchid native to Brazil and Columbia. VERY worth the wait! Plants are much smaller in size compared to Cyrtopodium andersonii...

Thank you! I'm still working out how to work the camera some on manual, and get good lighting so each flower is distinguishable... I'll update pics as soon as I can work it out, it kinda looks like a bee swarm (which is what it looks like from a distance )

No detectable scent, but it's been visited by many bees and wasps, so I imagine so

Nice Pat, How does the flower compare to the Cyrtopodium punctatum Cow horn that grows in the glades?

Hey!

Well, they both share many of the characteristics of being a Cyrtopodium, but florally, they look nothing alike. Size is also a big factor, some Cyrt. puncatum can produce rather large flowers. Also, Cyrto. punctatum, in some plants, will recess its lateral sepals, readily displaying the dorsal sepal, petals, and labellum

(BTW, still trying to work this new camera and get good macros. Not working! )

Closer shot

Size comparison to a quarter

Dissected flower

Thanks again!
