Gongora galeata

Here it is, my Gongora galeata Three more spikes are on their way, but as you can see, one of the spikes has lost almost all the buds. Maybe I should just cut this spike..? Don't like to cut any spikes





ps Anybody know if this yellow type is called something more than galeata? It isn't a var alba type, is it?

Great looking flowers Milda. So much from such a bare plant - amazing.

I am with you on not liking to cut flower spikes - I prefer to leave them until they are brown, dry and definitely dead.

I must admit I am not sure if it is valid but there is no reason you shouldn't be able to call var aurea.

No, 'var. aurea' is not valid, as it has not been described... I believe that the species is quite variable, so there are possiblities for the species to have many color forms... =)

I like the way it curls and this pure yellow. I have never seen this variety before.

It is very easy to grow and like the same conditions as Phalanopsis, but need more water and fertilizer. The little plant had 5 spikes, but this was the first and best. I recommend it!
The scent - don't know if I remember, maybe like orange?
