Hello! I recently purchased my first Catasetum, and it is having a rough time. It is a Cycnodes Taiwan Gold "Orange," and it was in shipping for 4 days. When I got it, there was yellowing at the tips of the outermost leaves and the older bulb was looking a little dehydrated. I have tried everything I could think of to get it back to plumpness, and it has only gotten worse. I will attach photos. The leaves are looking better mostly but have some strange blemishes. I trimmed any spots that looked to be unwell. I don't know what else to do. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
As these bulbs get yours is not very dehydrated at all. I wouldnt worry, especially about older bulbs. The newest bulbs are usually the only ones that are perfectly plump.
The newer bulb is lookong good other than the yellowing, but i think it still has a little growing to do. Id keep watering it a lot. Its a little early fo4 dormancy but if th3 plant looses all its leaves and doesnt start a new growth, you can allow it to go dormant and taper off on the watering until its bone dry.
Thats my take. Curious to see what others would do. Your plant looks really good so i wouldnt panic at all, its just a matter of what to do next.
not sure there is anything wrong, the leaves can develop blemishes. I don't see obvious spider mite (which these are prone to). new bulb is plump, so keep giving it high light and fertilizer.
